3 out of 5 stars Good but not stable   November 9, 2009

I had this cadence monitor and made the mistake of using the enclosed ties to secure it to the chainstay. Eventually it migrated inward and was eaten by my spokes -- a very dangerous situation to be sure. I'm pleased that the cadence computer is offered separately so I don't have to buy the whole set, but I'm definitely going to find a more secure way to mount it next time.

I could not review this kit as it was the wrong one for my computer.

4 out of 5 stars Great training aid; bracket needs improvement   July 30, 2007

Works very well with my BC1606L DTS and gives fast and accurate reads. It really helps me keep my pace in higher gears and it gives me a good idea of how much work I'm doing.

The instructions say to mount the transmitter to the chainstay, but they are so thin these days that it doesn't offer much for a stable platform. I found it more robust to mount it to the seat tube between the tube and the crank (so the transmitter is essentially pointing at the crank) and as long as the magnet is mounted in the right position there is adequate clearance and the reads are 100%.

I use the rubber o-ring to retain the transmitter as I have occasions where I need to remove it, and I would have given 5 stars except the bracket lip is very shallow and the o-ring slips out pretty easily while I'm remounting it. I haven't had an issue yet after it's attached, but I don't have a lot of confidence in it. If you have no reason to remove the transmitter, I would suggest using the included zip ties to eliminate the risk of it popping off during a ride.
