Product Description Sigma Sport Wireless Computer
Amazon.com Product Description The digitally coded, the BC 2006 MHR DTS combines the classic features of a wireless bike computer with the most important altitude, heart rate and temperature functions. With the easy to operate 4-button navigation, mountain specialists and touring cyclists have fast access to all the important information on their ride. You can read 4 current values (altitude, heart rate, speed and another optional function) in one clear screen. All the functions on the computer can also be used off the bike using the special hiking mode. Digital Transmission explained. | The top model for heart rate measurement. | |
Digital Transmission System (DTS) Explained With 2-channel radio transmission (km/h and pedal frequency) and 100% digital encoding without data loss, the DTS system guarantees 100% data security of current speed and pedal frequency values during wireless reception. It does this by calculating all relevant data, encoding it and transmitting it in data packets to the integrated receiver in the bike computer. Disturbances such as power lines or mobile phones are no longer a problem as transmission is carried out over the so-called low frequency. A double security system also ensures that only the data packets from your own transmitter are evaluated by the receiver. This means that group rides are no problem. A further security measure is redundant data transmission so that no data can be lost. The size and quality of the receiver has also been optimized by a specially developed Sigma chip (ASIC) and integrated into the bike computer which also saves on battery life. Second One I've Owned October 11, 2009 The RV Roadie (On the road) I use this computer on my bike...and at the gym. It serves several purposes:
1. Heart rate monitor (I've had heart surgery)
2. Speed
3. Distance
4. Altitude
5. Time...how long on the bike
I now have two, as the sending unit (that straps around your chest) gave out after 3 years, and I couldn't find out how to buy another sender. I would not be withougt this unit. The only "negative" (and it isn't really for me) is that it doesn't provide a detailed recording of heart rate over the whole ride/workout. I DOES however, show average of all sorts of things, including speed and heart rate.
Oh yeah, it is bullet proof. I dropped it at 15 miles per hour coming off a bridge. It skidded along the concrete, but was just scratched a little. Solid.

I bought this Sigma computer with HRM and Altimeter prior to riding in the Bicycle Tour of
Colorado in June 2009. I liked everything about the computer except the way the transmitter affixed to the front fork. There were problems from the start with the transmitter being too close to the spokes and hitting spokes after potholes. I was constantly adjusting the distance of the transmitter. Finally on a steep bumpy downhill the transmitter battery cover went flying off never to be found. Being a hard head I bought another one and affixed it to the fork using the second installation option. It lasted for 15 minutes of riding before that one went flying off never to be seen again. Maybe Sigma can find a better way to install the transmitter. I have had many cycle computers over the years and have never had the transmitter or part of it go flying off the bike. Nice computer bad installation design. Maybe they'll send me a new transmitter so I can go for strike 3.
Sigma BC2006MHR July 10, 2009 Loren Schaeffer I was looking for a wireless bike computer that had the Altimeter, speedometer and HRM functions only. I never use all the other options or downloadable features. Its been easy to use so I am happy with it so far and would recommend it.
Great Product July 9, 2009 Kyle Martin (Florida) Easy installation, no problems as of yet. Meter accurately displays distance and speed. I haven't used the heart rate function yet...

I've had this unit for 6 months. It pretty much works as advertised, but-battery life and magnet strength in Xmitter is questionable. The sender has to be about 1-2 mm from the battery. That's a pretty tight fit, esp with carbon front forks. As the battery on the sender weakens, there's no real communication from it to tell what the problem is (I got a "Too Many Signals" error). On the computer unit, Temperature gauge isn't accurate, reads way too high, and there doesn't seem to be any way to calibrate it. The manual is thorough and detailed, but somehow confusing (What can I say? It's written by English speakers, not English thinkers)
On the positive side, The readout is very clear; you can do individual parameter resets, the rubber bands (o-rings really) are pretty tough, I haven't broken one yet, and it has a dual mount, stem or handlebar, which was very important for me, as I put safety brakes on my handle bar, which ate up real estate. At 120 bucks, it's pricey, but at 83? IMO that's getting into bargain territory for the feature set.
