Easy to set up, easy to use, easy to see data August 25, 2010 Michelle D. Stadel (California) I love this bike computer. It is so easy to use, much easier than the Schwinn 17 function which I returned. With the Planet Bike computer I don't have to worry about resetting the computer when I want to look at the data because the information I want is displayed on the screen. There are four functions displayed at one time, if I want to see the other function (I mostly don't), one push on the bottom and the bottom line toggles between two different functions (I can't remember which functions), but it is really easy to see all 5 functions without having to remember a complicated series of button pushing. Unless you are needing more data, this is the bike computer to buy.
You like this Bike Computer August 25, 2010 OhioHeartland Shipping was quick. Opened it and waited a day or two for hubby to install it. After following the instructions it would not work correctly. I could get the clock function to work but nothing else.
I remember reading a review post of a guy who had trouble getting his working and returned to his review and he gave a very good and needed tip in order to get the bike computer functioning correctly. Here's his advice:
"Remember to align the Spoke Magnet at the same level of the Wheel Sensor where a glossy mark like (-) at the upper side (not the lower side of the Sensor). Do not get confused. See the picture in the manual."
This advice made all the difference and is very important and is not clear in the instruction manual.
Other than that small frustration once we got it running it's been a fantastic odometer. I LOVE being able to see it's 4 functions at once. It turns itself off if your bike remains idle for too long but saves your information. Just a little movement from your bike and it turns itself back on. Buy this odometer you will not be disappointed. It's very readable and I had no problem seeing it on sunny days or gloomy ones.
Good Computer October 13, 2009 Robert Tough (Berlin, MD USA) I bought this product to replace one just like it that I lost. It has a large easily readable display. It does everything that I need.
Problem-free installation and performance April 17, 2009 Robert A. Barr (Chicago) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've had this model in use for about five weeks. Installation was very easy; to set the circumference, I used a GPS and altered the setting until the two units matched speeds. It's really convenient to have all the info I want with one glance, and the display is crisp and easy to read.
I haven't experienced any of the problems noted in other Planet Bike computer reviews; my unit 'remembers' the trip data indefinitely, and it takes fairly deliberate action to reset the data. Perhaps the units others complained about were touchier than mine. The display doesn't darken in direct sunlight, but the weather is still fairly cool here in the Chicago suburbs. We'll see how it acts in hotter weather. The screen will darken for 10 to 20 seconds if I wipe the face with a finger. I have not tried the unit in the rain yet.
I wasn't thrilled to find that the speed reads out in 1/2 mph increments, instead of tenths, which I was used to on my Cateye. Otherwise, I'm very satisfied with it.
71+ Old man loves this gadget! March 20, 2009 Patrick J. Gibney (Mobile, AL United States) Just got back on a bike since 1951. Bought this amazing cyclocomputer to keep daily record of travel. It is TERRIFIC!! Took about 30 minutes to get it installed to my satisfaction, however think the instruction book has made an error. States that it needs to be "1-2cm" apart. No way! My first rotation of the front tire started registering everything and the distance is at least 3/8"in apart. Everything very easy to view, goes to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity but wakes right up on the 1st turn of the front tire. Am just a recretional rider and this one will last me to the "last ride". VERY satisfied w/this purchase. :)
