Amazon.com Product Description The BC 1106 with its diversity of functions is the right choice for the athletically ambitious biker. The integrated storage chip prevents loss of pre-settings and total values during power losses or even battery changes, with low power scenarios announced in due time by the low battery indicator. Two wheel size settings are possible, which can be recognized automatically with an optional Bike 2 Sensor, allowing riders to use their BC 1106 interchangeably between any combination of two bicycles. Digital Transmission System (DTS) Explained With 2-channel radio transmission (km/h and pedal frequency) and 100% digital encoding without data loss, the DTS system guarantees 100% data security of current speed and pedal frequency values during wireless reception. It does this by calculating all relevant data, encoding it and transmitting it in data packets to the integrated receiver in the bike computer. Disturbances such as power lines or mobile phones are no longer a problem as transmission is carried out over the so-called low frequency. A double security system also ensures that only the data packets from your own transmitter are evaluated by the receiver. This means that group rides are no problem. A further security measure is redundant data transmission so that no data can be lost. The size and quality of the receiver has also been optimized by a specially developed SIGMA chip (ASIC) and integrated into the bike computer which also saves on battery life. check the battery! April 18, 2010 Patrick (palo alto, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
At first this speedometer worked poorly, if at all -- the display showed that it only occasionally connected with the sending unit, so all results were bad. I had tried repositioning both parts exactly per the instructions, but nothing worked. I was about to send it back, but called tech support. "Randy" told me to check the battery in the sending unit. They evidently had a bad batch of Mitsubishi batteries, and that is what I found. When I replaced it with a new battery, everything worked fine.
Now I find it easy to use, easy to read, and reliable.
Good computer, confusing set up April 4, 2010 John Elbare (Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good little computer, but the users manual absolutely stinks. The instructions are sparse and obscure, especially for setting the wheel size. My question to the Sigma Company: Why go to the trouble of manufacturing and marketing a nice computer but then not give your customers decent instructions on setting it up and using it?
IMO works really well and is reliable November 29, 2009 G. ABY-EVA (Pittsburgh, PA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've had this bike computer for some time and I can't quite relate to all the complaints about it! Sure there's an elastic band (an O ring) to hold the sensor but It works really quite well. At first I was afraid to stretch on it but it is quite strong and fits around my carbon fork which tends to be wide at the top. I like the fact I can switch it from bike to bike very easily. Perhaps some might have issues with MTBs and the sensor moving but for a road bike it is great. You can get the sensor quite close to the wheel without it moving while riding. I've never missed a signal once you spin the wheel a few times. Yes the instruction are sometime a bit shallow but once you got it, it's a breeze. I give it a five star. I'm very happy with it. The only real negative I have is that switching from miles to km (or vice versa) does not convert your past results. I like to understand both but I must do my own conversions.
Nice computer, poor signal strength October 27, 2009 ramman (Alabama) I have tried all of the available mounting options and moved all of the pieces around and have yet to get a consistent link between the computer and sensor. My Specialized Mtn Bike frame layout appears to be significantly different than what Sigma had in mind when they designed this unit. This unit would be nice if the radio was a little more sensitive.
quits working for no reason September 5, 2009 Boreal Jeff (Ontario Canada) I never owned a bike computer until I bought my Sigma bike computer a few months ago. I now have approximately 1,900 km on it. I say approximately because several times, while riding, it has quit working for no reason. You get off the bike, fiddle with the transmitter, adjust the gap between the transmitter and magnet but still nothing. Then, magically, it starts working again. I've tried changing batteries but nothing works. Even when it is working, you have to remember to start it again if you stop for five minutes.
